This for me is a long time coming. I have been an Islanders fan for as long as I can remember. I was born one day after they last won the cup. My dad says my first game I attended was at the age of one where he caught a puck, i guess i looked like good luck. Well, for the last 24 years I have pretty much nothing but sorrow in my hockey world...that is until Garth Snow and Ted Nolan came along.
Now when I watch games I become excited, knowing that gameday no longer means defeat. This current team has attitude, can play defense with the best of them, scores when it has to, and what can you say about Ricky D...well nothing really.
With that said, we are still ranked lower than the Rangers on TSN and THN despite beating them 2x and having one less point in like 3 or 4 fewer games. Give me a break.
There is no way this team doesnt finish in the top 6 in the Eastern Conference (if everyone is healthy)...
Right now I am content on ignoring the rest of the hockey world, but soon change is coming. There is a changing of the guard in the atlantic division...the devils are falling fast.
I have watched many devil games this season and Marty (to me) does not look the same. As great as he is, he (and many other devil teams) were part of some tremendous system Lou had going. Well, Brent has tossed that system out the door and things do not look good in devil land.
The Rangers? good but overrated
Philly? i havent seen enough games to judge
Pitt? Will prob end up winning the division when all is said and done
Islanders? Well they have already proved everyone west of Uniondale wrong.
Anyway, tonight is a huge game, First Place on the line...LETS GO ISLANDERS!!
