Could there be a homecoming for Penguins winger Mark Recchi?
Recchi, who won a Stanley Cup in 2006 with Carolina, is rumoured to have seeked a trade from Pens GM Ray Shero after being a healthy scratch for more than once so far this season.
Who would want the 39 year old winger and $1.75M salary? Well maybe his hometown Canucks? The Canucks currently have $2.679M in cap space available, more than enough to absorb the remaining amounts of Recchi's contract.
The Canucks have been lacking a second line since coach Vigneault decided to load up on a line that featured the Sedins and Naslund and a shutdown line featuring Kesler, Pyatt, and Isbister. Leaving former 71 point scorer Brendan Morrison playing on a line with grinders with no offensive player to complement him.
Slot Recchi on the right wing with Morrison and Cooke and you have yourself a second line on the team. Cooke goes in on the forecheck to fetch the puck, Morrison sets it up, Recchi scores.
*Update*
Sportsnet.ca has also picked up on speculation that Recchi may be headed West to the Canucks, citing Recchi has played for coach Vigneault when he was with Montreal. And also noting that Recchi played for Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock in junior with Kamloops and with the Flyers in the NHL; making the Jackets another potential destination.
The article also says the Canucks are concerned about how much gas Recchi has left in his tank and if they money would be better spent at the trade deadline.

Ummmm Recchi won a cup with the 91 Pens......
^I have correct that. Thanks for pointing it out.
Please Flyers Bring him home to Philly to end his playing days...Please...
Recchi won the Cup in 1991 and 2006 with the 'Canes, a deadline pick up along with Weight. He had 16 points in 24 playoff games with the Hurricanes.
I love Mark Recchi. What a competitor. But he's done. Holmgren would have to have a gun to his head to make a deal for him at this point. In a non salary Cap era, maybe. The Cap is going to kill players like Recchi.
