Its Time...

As i sit here at work on break, counting down the minutes until 5:30 when i will be running out the door and heading to the arena as fast as my car will take me. I wonder where would buffalo be right now without these Sabres? Without these very Sabres that are so enthrawling as to bring a whole Community together as one. The community that has so openly and easily let these Sabres into our hearts and homes. Without this team the City of Buffalo and Western New York around it would be very different. Had the Sabres not been as good as they are, what would we be doing? If they missed the playoffs would we be sitting around talking about the NFL draft? Some might, but the Bills arent exactly awe inspiring, so im not sure we would even be paying much attention to that. No i think most would be going about their days. Going from home to work and back again. Maybe stopping at a friends house along the way to say hi. Or stopping at the store to pick up dinner and then straight home to make it. Maybe getting the kids ready for bed after that, until finally slipping off ourselves to the very dreams that we now see so close at hand.
Buffalo is a Different place right now. Everywhere you go there is a buzz about town. People that you never had a thought of saying a word to will stop you and chat about the Sabres just because they caught sight of the team emblem on your hat as you walked by. Or driving up to a red light and seeing each and every one of the cars in front of you proudly displaying Sabres Flags or Bumper stickers.
As i see all this day after day, I thank the hockey gods for giving us a team, The Team we have waited so long and desperately for.
Because without this team Buffalo just wouldnt be the same.
