Watching Adam Burish throw himself in front of yet annother 90+ MPH slapshot last night, go to war again for a teammate when he pummeled Keith Ballard, recalling that he organized the Hawks home victory salute to the fans . . . just seeing his enthusiasm and energy . . . I ask you, how do you spell captain?
B-U-R-I-S-H.
Sure, he's just holding the job for Toews until JT can buy liquor legally, but he was captain at Wisconsin, on a national champioin. And he leads by example— far better than Lapointe does.
To me, this team needs a captain. After reading Barry Rozner's article about dressing room turbulence between Havlat and Lapointe (both of whom have worn the rotating 'A'), I'm starting to feel that this team needs one leader, and a leader who proves it on the ice every night.
Nice article by Jesse Rogers today on chicagoblackhawks.com. Count Rogers in with yours truly and a small, but solid core of Hawk fans who don't want to see the Hawks deal their quality prospects for a #8 playoff seed this year.
Where have you gone, Troy Brouwer? Blackhawk Nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Well, something like that. Lots of internet chat about the glaring absence of last year's AHL rookie of the year runner-up from the many Blackhawk call-ups from Rockford. Brouwer leads the Ice Hogs with 16 goals. He plays an Owen Nolan/Dustin Penner style of game, big and physical with a deceptive shot in close. Seems like he could really help a Blackhawk team that is getting a lot of shots on net from bad angles right now.
The wounded Hawks limp into Anaheim tonight for a tilt with the defending Stanley Cup champs. The last time the teams played at the United Center, the Hawks gave Anaheim quite a game. Dustin Byfuglien was a human wrecking crew at RW in the game, with one of his checks on Chris Pronger practically rattling the whole building. With all the injuries on defense, Denis Savard has been forced to move Byfuglien back to defense. But his defensive shortcomings have been evident. Savard has gone on record that he feels Byfuglien's future is as a forward. Perhaps tonight he moves back up front. Byfuglien has both the size and puck skills to take over the game in the opposing zone, a combination the Hawks desperately need with Toews out of the lineup.

i agree with you on burish, he was the heart n soul of our championship team at WI, great effort every game, clutch player ect.
