Three years removed from the NHL lockout and the young talent continues to look better and better with every drop of the puck. The 2007 Young Stars Game was a joke, plain and simple. It was boys, not men, floating around the ice and cherry picking at the oppositions blue line looking for a breakaway.
Yawn.
Quite a different scene displayed by the young talent selected to take part in the game. I was very impressed by the likes of
Brandon Dubinsky, who set up a tap in goal for Niklas Backstrom. He had a few nice setup's that didn't end up in the back of the net, but that's certainly not on him.
I was particularly unimpressed with Alexander Edler. I've heard a lot of rave from Canucks fans this season, with most of the rave centered around the fact that he's looked like a number one defensemen so often this season. Don't get me wrong - he may have had the mentality that last year's young star crew had - "it's just a corny festivity", and it is only one game, but I had still hoped to see some sort of glimmer from the guy. He had some brutal turnovers.
Still, it's only the young stars game. I'd like to see this guy in real-game action.
I really hope the NHL embraces some of the young talent it has instead of marketing only players like Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. They seem to be throwing Getzlaf into the mix as a player that they would like to market. Hopefully they use a marketing strategy that gives us a nice balance of faces, not just Crosby and Ovechkin.
Big things are happening for the NHL.
Young Stars game was great. I thought Legace was hiliarous
Legace was great. Osgood got lit up. I think Manny should start the game today, not Osgood.
I agree that Legace helped in making it enjoyable. The play prior to Kanes two-hundred foot breakaway was insane.
The game was pretty exciting. The rest of the skills competitions were boring at best... and dark!!!http://www.FireBettman.com
I wish Manny had more room to handle the puck in our games. That was a nice pass.
Ya Edler I think is an all star, but a guy not for the all star game. He plays a lot like Lidstrom in a defensive and passing sense and is able to get pucks through traffic on net. It almost looked like he didn't understand it lol.
If they're going to market Getzlaf, he better get on the hair treatment plan for men. Talk about premature balding!
it was 3-on-3 exhibition...seriously don't base your opinions on it lol
Stumpy, I said I wasn't going to.
