As I attended the last two home games of the St. Louis Blues the title is the only word that can describe the feeling I had walking out of the Scottrade Center. After a thrilling shootout win over a very good Ducks team, the Blues got outworked and didn't show any sense of urgency the past two games. Granted, Manny was his All Star caliber self the past two games, but seriously, its the NHL and as important as goaltending is, the team should be able to bail the netminder out once in a while. This is something the Blues have failed to do the entire year. These home games are crucial to the playoff push, spending 3 weeks on the road in March playing playoff bound teams is a recipe for disaster. This organization has made leeps and bounds both on and off the ice over the past couple years, but guess what.....the honeymoon period is over. Blues fans expect this team to make the playoffs or at least compete for a spot. Tanking the past couple games have brought serious doubt to my mind. Would it be so terrible for the Blues to trade away some of the vets on the team and in the process supplement the upcoming draft? Thats up for debate, what isn't up for debate is the need to win.....now.
