On Saturday night at HSBC Arena, I witnessed the ultimate no-no amongst true hockey fans. BTT = Beat The Traffic. With less than 3 minutes remaining in a 3-2 playoff game, several hundred people were grabbing their coats and heading for the exits. What is the point on going to a game if you are going to leave when the outcome is still in doubt. During the regular season is bad enough, but the Playoffs?!?!? [insert Jim Mora voice here]. Playoffs?!?!?
Buffalo does have a loyal set of fans, but like other cities the bandwagon sometimes brings in the ones you wish weren't there. But I'm not simply going to whine about this. I have a solution: put a spotlight on them! Think about it. As they try to scurry out of a one goal game, put them on the jumbotron under the intense heat of the dreaded spotlight. I bet it would stop. Either that, or tell them to stay home. Chances are there won't be too much traffic. It is Buffalo, after all.
