Late-Round Big Winner
The Islanders traded down twice in the first round to get Josh Bailey at pick #9... passing up Schenn, Filatov, Boedaker, Hodgson and Wilson -- which almost everyone agrees was a downer to Isles fans.
But they did get
Corey Trivino at pick #36,
Aaron Ness at pick #40 and
Travis Hamonic with pick #53. I have them pegged for 4 potential late-round sleepers (the most of any team on my list)...including absolute steals at #72
Jyri Niemi AND #73
Kirill Petrov.
Everyone said this was a deep draft. The Isles may have gotten the last laugh!
PS: To everyone who says that the Russians are a gamble.. there were SIX <br>Russian players taken in the first 3 rounds, and only FOUR Swedish born players selected by round 3.

You missed Azevedo in the 6th round by LA. Led the OHL in scoring this year and was named Player of the Year by the OHL press...small could could be a Briere, St. Louis or Camallerri type player...
