Will The Salary Cap Drop Next Season?

One would have to wonder with the steady decline of the canadian dollar dropping from roughly $1.07 high in October of last year and staying above par with the US dollar for most of last year. Down to current levels of $.82 - $.85 which works out to around a drop of $.15 - $.23 average. If last year Canada's six NHL teams ticket sales made up for 1/3 of the NHL total ticket sales revenue you would have to anticipate a decline is sales based on dollars lost do to exchange.
Add in the economic slow down in the United States and Canada with the looming financial crisis, I would have to believe that the NHL will lose a significant amount of revenue this season. If this were to happen then the salary cap would have to be lowered next season.

I completely believe that the cap will not go up much and could very well decline. I will be pretty amused when this happens and teams like the Flyers and Rangers who have been playing a little fast and loose with their money are up against the wall.
