Calgary enters Minnesota after a very strong showing in St.Louis on Tuesday night. A very nice confidence booster for Mathew Lombardi with 3 points on the night and Mike Cammalleri knocking in a goal and an assist. Jarome Iginla with his career stats vs the Blues only got better knocking in 2 goals and assisting on 2 , for a 4 point night. Strong showing from Corey Sarich helping on 2 goals as well.
Minnesota has only 3 wins in their last ten and things don't get easier for them as Calgary comes in at 6-2-2 in their last ten. With the likes of D-man Kurtis Foster and all star Marian Gaborik out of the line up , the Minnesota Wild are missing key players on the backend and up front with those two still out of the lineup since the first few games of the season.
Calgary looks to continue on with winning with the solid goaltending from netminder Miika Kiprusoff, and offensive progression from Jarome Iginla, Mike Cammalleri, Matthew Lombardi, David Moss. Not to mention a few notables who have played very well as of late , Curtis Glencross, Todd Bertuzzi, Dion Phaneuf.
As Calgary enters their 32nd game of the season first place in the NW division, look to try and pull away in the standings from the struggling Vancouver Canucks who are also facing the red faced Edmonton Oilers tonight as the oil come off a 9-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday night.
Game factors: Jarome Iginla , Miika Kiprusoff continue to play well , Mikko Koivu ,Eric Belanger and Antti Miettinen to have strong games as they are what is keeping the Wild's offensive numbers up since Gaborik is out. Goaltening from Niklas Backstrom.
Flames should come out strong, play a physical game and use lots of speed , and traffic in front of Backstrom.
