Gary Bettman has been the National Hockey League's commisioner for over two decades now (starting in 93) but for some reason, an act of God I presume, despite recently losing money, American fan bases, TV ratings, and now the bankrupcy of one of it's massivly failed southern U.S franchises; the Phoenix Coyotes, and even despite the fact that a website aptly named
www.garybettmansucks.com exists and apparently is flourishing, Gary Bettman STILL remains defiant and set on continuing his reign over this league like a much less respected yet equally short Napoleon Bonaparte.
This guy is ridiculous! Much like Napoleon he refuses to concede and admit defeat. We're gonna have to exile this man to Mexico and brace ourselves for his inevitable return as the anti-christ before he steps down. Prepare the arsenic this man's not going down without a fight!
It's absolutley absurd to deny Canada another franchise, let alone another 3 for that matter. Why does California have 3 teams? I like the fans in San Jose and Anaheim but Los Angeles can't even support a football team! What about the Islanders, or the 2 Florida teams, or Atlanta? Obviously Nashville has to be mentioned as well, they almost lost their team last year! The list seems endless. It seems like a cruel joke that Bettman is not held accountable, somebody has to be! On the league's behalf someone has to take the fall. It's not like it would be a far fall either the man's practically a Hobbit. However you do it just get rid of him!
Hockey is to Canada as Baseball is to America. I can let the Expos go. Or even the Vancouver Grizzlies in the NBA, I mean I don't even think Vancouver cared too much about that one, but hockey is our game. There are thousands of fans in either Winnipeg, Quebec or Southern Ontario that would kill to have a hockey team, literally! There is plenty of money to made off ticket sales and the merchandise from those areas, not to mention across Canada as well; I know I'd buy a jersey. What if they make the playoffs and take a run at the cup? Given how the other Canadian cities tend to react during Cup runs it would be no short of a small, peaceful Canadian riot!
I understand moving a franchise is not ideal but he never seemed to flinch when admitting defeat in Winnipeg and Quebec, and those are fantastic hockey communities. Of course, money got in the way, it always does. It's a buisness, I understand this, but that being said if that were the case please explain to me how it is good for buisness to keep this team in Arizona? Obviously I'm not the only one asking this but I wish to reiterate: Are the other owners gonna come up with the 36 million dollars of debt this pathetic franchise managed to come up with? Because Ballsilie will. Are you gonna ante up using some of your massive salary? Even if the Coyotes stay in Phoenix how the hell do you get a city that has never seen ice, other than in their freezers, to embrace a game they never grew up playing or watching? So please Mr. Bettman it's your turn now, enlighten me.
