Hello Fellow Leaf Nation Fanatics;
I have been a die-hard leaf fan since I was 4 years old. I remember my first leaf game was against the Colorado Rockies and every Saturday night was spent watching the Leafs on my parent's bed in black and white. Since I was a goalie, Mike Palmateer was my hero and cried when he got traded to Washington
Thinking that providing my background as a Leaf fan would give some credence to my comments, for the first time in my life I believe the Leafs are going in the right direction. Semi-Finals aside, the Leafs never had the right ingredients for a Cup winner: capable veterans sprinkled with home-grown talent. Look at the Devils when they were winning, every year a new player(s) would come up from Albany and acquit himself nicely in the play offs.
Due to Burke's addition of talent without giving up a single draft choice is commendable. Bozak, Hanson, the Monster, Beauchmin, Komasarik and Exelby have been adding this off season and the only departure we have had is Kubina?! BB tenure has already been a success in my mind. If we have to trade Kaberle for a top six forward, so be it. I may be on crack but I think White is a similar player to Kabs and he isn't afraid to fight for the puck. He may not have the skill of Kaberle, right now, but he has more heart the Tomas will ever have. He didn't pout when he sat and when called upon, did the job.
We are still a long ways away from challenging for the Cup, but next year's addition will be a welcomed surprise for this devoted fan.
Very nice I was a Palmateer fan myself and I share your enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Nice post.
