Seven Seconds to the Conference Finals

With 7.7 seconds to go Drury rifles a shot over Henrik Lundqvist and pass Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi and into the net, tying the game at one. That shot had eyes. With only a few inches of open net about to be closed off by Girardi's glove Drury launched the Sabres to an OT winner and a 3-2 lead in the series. It brings back memories of Valeri Zelepukin's tying goal with 7.1 seconds to go in game 7 of the conference finals in 1994 against the Rangers. But this time Matteau didn't make an appearence for the Blueshirts.
There is no doubt in my mind that had the Rangers held on for another seven seconds the Sabres would have been done in six, and the NHL would have seen the most devastating upset since the Oilers defeated the Wings in last year's playoffs. But sadly it was not to be.
Enough can not be said about Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who has carried this team on his back since the All Star break, and has posted a 2.00 goals against average in the series against the highest scoring team in the NHL. A team that everyone thought wouldn't even make the playoffs went on to sweep the number three seed and give the Sabres one hell of a battle for control of the series.
It's far from over, but whatever happens the Rangers fans have something special to remember, and something to look forward to in the future.
