Any hockey fan looking at what the Bruins were trying to accomplish at the trade deadline would grade Peter Chiarelli’s deadline transactions as incomplete. For Bruins fans, this was a tough pill to swallow. I mean, this has been a disappointing season to date and Bruins fans were hoping to acquire players at the deadline to put their current woes to the side. But looking at the overall picture and putting personal feelings aside, did the Bruins gain any sort of achievement? As a Bruins fan, I am saying yes, but it’s a mere baby step in the right direction. Denis Siedenberg is an upgrade from Derek Morris. From an overall statistical side they are on the same level, except Siedenberg is less of a cap hit(2.25mill vs 3.3mill) and father time is on his side. But what about the scoring? What it looks like now, Chiarelli is looking for his current players to step up. *cough* Wheeler *cough* Ryder. Maybe it was the tension of the trade deadline that circled this past month caused players to lose their game, but now that it is over these Bruins players need to step up. Not just the scoring. Chara needs to be meaner, Lucic needs to stay healthy, Wheeler needs to finish, and Wideman needs to take off the blind folds. This is a team effort. If everyone steps up, this team will be drastically better. If not? Hey, maybe we get two chances of landing Taylor Hall.
I think you're jumping the gun on Seidenberg being better than our second best defenseman, best D passer, best D power play guy and overall soild player who's made very few mistakes in a year littered with them.
