Dustin Brown, what a captain. He hits, he scores, he passes, this guy is the real deal. I can honestly say that I am thrilled that he is a member of the Los Angeles Kings. He is the best choice for captain on the team, even at his young age. He plays with grit, speed, strength, and scoring touch, but most of all he plays with heart. Every captain in the league needs to play with heart. In my opinion you would be hard pressed to find one that plays with more heart that Dustin Brown. He is such a complete player, and he will only continue to improve in the future.
Another great asset that Dustin holds is his durability. In the last 5 seasons he hasn't played less than 78 games. That's impressive for a someone who plays such a physical style of hockey.
This year Dustin played all 82 games, finishing with 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points. While this wasn't his career best as far of offense, I really do think that he can return to that 30 goal plateau next season.
One area of concern for me is his plus/minus stat. Personally I am not a huge fan of the statistic, only because it doesn't really say anything, but when you have never had a plus season in the NHL, personally I feel that there is reason for concern. I think that Terry Murray has done a tremendous job of developing this young man, and I don't doubt that he will be able to turn that minus into a plus for next season. It was his best FULL season ever regarding plu/minus. I can't reall say enough about Dustin Brown. There are so many positives that go along with having this player on your team. He is a guy that this team is going to be able to count on for a long long time.
Hope everyone has a good day, enjoy the hockey.
