Uniforms Coming Sooner Than Anticipated and the Kaberle Saga

What a week, Leafs Nation.
After a slow start to the off-season, news sure picked up this week.
The last entry discussed this summer’s events for the blue and white, and surprisingly, the past seven days managed to hit on a couple of them.
The most significant was revealed yesterday by Howard Berger, regarding a certain press conference. As expected, the Leafs will hold a joint event to name Dion Phaneuf the next captain and unveil the new home and road uniforms.
What caught me off guard though, but in reality makes total sense, is the timing of the announcement.
I indicated that this event would likely conclude the summer and lead into next season. Instead, Phil Kessel, along with Phaneuf will be on hand at the Air Canada Centre, in what is speculated to be a week and a half from now, on June 15. The jerseys will then go on sale the following week, appropriately coinciding with the draft in Los Angeles on June 25.
Smart plan, Burke.
The other major point of discussion lately has been Tomas Kaberle and it appears that the Leafs GM has started a bidding war.
An email was sent to all team on how his contract works, and Burke has indicated he will listen to offers. As many as six teams are already involved, and it would not surprise anyone to see the deal made on the draft floor.
In order to make the trade worthwhile for the team though, Burke has to ensure he waits till the best offer arrives, and not settle for less.
Could Toronto get a top-scoring winger and a game-ready prospect, the way Burke desires? Maybe
Can a first round pick be attained? Perhaps.
