For as long as I can remember I have loved the Leafs. Even as a boy playing church league hockey I would wear.

For years and years the media has relentlessly pursued trade rumours and speculation in Toronto almost as much as Rob Fords hounding by the media. For these reasons I love the leafs even more.

But my fellow leaf fan you drive me crazy, Yes we had a good season last year (shortened), Yes we made some great upgrades in Net and on the wing. But we have not addressed the needs of this team. Defense takes you deep in the playoffs and depth wins you the cup. So why have we not addressed these issue's, well maybe its the christening of Gardiner as the next Scott Niedermayer. Toronto fans tend to believe the media hype on a player watch a couple games or periods and think thats the law. We never take into account that there are 29 other teams in the league and you need to compare the players the leafs have to them, not to the past.

I recently wrote a blog about predictions, my absolute favorite thing in Hockey next to trade speculation of course. In the blog people wrote to me saying I was an idiot for valuing Cody Franson so low and he was the second coming of Bobby Orr. Seriously find a comparable in the league and tell me his value. Its not a first and a prospect, most especially in cap era. Gardiner is not going to bring you Yakupov and why would you want him if the Oilers who are desperate are going to give up on a First overall so soon.

Which brings me to Bernier, can we PLEASE PLEASE wait at least a month before we throw Riemer to the dumpster and anoint him the new Martin Brodeur of Toronto. Lets see if he can maintain a solid GAA before he is given the key to the city. Maybe we should see if he falters down the road before raising his banner to the rafters.

Please my fellow Leafers watch a bunch of games that the Leafs are not playing in before you judge or comment on the talent in Toronto. And for the Love of Eklund leave Phaneuf alone he is amazing and totally trashed from his contract he does exactly what the coach asks which is what a good Captain should do.
