What a mess:rnrn It went from bad to complete incompetence, thank goodness the 14/15 season is over with. From the coaching to the players to management and all the way up to the board room the Toronto Maple Leafs have been the biggest joke in Hockey. So the question remains, How do we right this sinking ship?rnrn In a couple of interviews the leafs remaining management team stressed the need for patience, well guys the fan base has been patient since 1967. So I personally grow tired of patience, I want the leaks fixed and the ship sailing in the right direction. I don't expect miracles from the draft but I do expect some sanity.rnrn Brendan Shanahan should NOT have said he wants a new GM that is willing to work with the team he has put in place and follow his model. Although that is probably the best case, what you have done is just eliminate any candidate with a sense of self worth and opened yourself up to the B list candidates. So note to Brendan, ask questions in an interview with candidates not in the general public.rnrn So what should we expect at the draft?rnrn Trades in abundance! Now if anyone thinks we are moving up at the draft, don't get your hopes up, No one is trading outside of the top 15 there is too much to lose. If the trades of Bozak, Kessel, Bernier, Phanuef and others do take place, It will most likely be for prospects and picks next year not this one. I am fine with this, as a real rebuild should be in the 4-7 year range not a 2 year plan.rnrn What are they worth? rnrn Bozak- A second this year and a B prospect at the mostrnPhanuef- A Prospect and a pick not sure where that would happen, depends on how much salary we eat.rnKessel-A player, a prospect and a first rounder(lottery Protected)rnBernier-Mid to low first rounder, possibly a prospectrnrn Should we keep JVR?rnrn Honestly if this is a true rebuild the answer is definitely no! His cap hit and Value are quite high and he doesn't have the body to be an impact in 4-7 years. So lets see who wants him and at what price? I am running to Garth Snow in the off season and talking JVR on a line with Tavares. Maybe Ryan Strome(unlikely). But in a package with gardiner, the possibility of Reinhart and First exists.rnrnWho do we want/target?rnrnRyan O'Reilly, yes much chatter about him in a leafs jersey and his leadership abilities and drive are sure to be crowd pleasers. We will need some salary when the whole line up is gone.rnrnLeon Draisitl, hmmmm I say, with a sure fire McDavid going to the Oilers, they have a glut of centers and I dont't believe Chiarelli wants to let RNH go just yet. Is there a Bernier ++ for Leon trade there? I think so.rnrnDevils 1st round pick. There is not a ton of offensive talent floating in this free agency period so if master Lou wants so O he is going to have to trade for it. He is not shy about moving picks if he gets young talent. At 6th overall I am running to Barzal first then Provorov if he is there. So what might it take? Its gotta be big in this draft and you are sure to see either Bozak/JVR/Lupul in some way in that talk. Probably JVR-Bozak combo for 6th+.rnrnPhanuef goes to.......................Detroit suprise suprise suprise. What's coming back? I actually hope its Dylan Larkin although most predict Anthony Mantha, whom is also a fine prospect.rnrnWhom do we pick at 4th??rnrn Of course the whole leafs nation is screaming for Strome, and I wouldn't cry. But if we are picking based on pure talent, ability and logic. If he is there Noah Hanifin, he has superstar potential and paired with Reilly on the power play sparks fear in the opposition. So in fairness whoever is available Strome/Hanifin I don't care they are both amazing prospects with incredible upside.rnrnWhat else to expect?rnrnMike Futa new General MangerrnKirk Muller CoachrnrnWhy not Rob Babcock?rnrnNot a snowballs chance in Haiti is this guy coming to Toronto unless he is assistant GM, Gets 7 mill a year and stock options in MLSE. He will be gone from Detroit I imagine and Jeff Blashill will replace so both are outta here. My guess for Rob is Philly or San Jose.rnrnLeaf Positives!rnrnMark Hunter!!!rnMorgan ReillyrnLeo KomorovrnStuart PercyrnSteve Spott gonernStephan Robidas for his leadershiprnrnWill miss:rnrnDavid BoothrnrnOther trade chips:rnrnRoman Polak (will be sought after)rnJake the Snake, get him the heck outta town GardinerrnReimer (why not get a UFA to fight for a contract and let them both go)rnKadri I just can't stand the fact he compared himself to John Tavares. Yes he really did, just so everyone is aware John plays hockey every second he is on the Ice no matter what the circumstance. LET THAT NAZEM GO!!!!!!!!!rnHolland-I prefer we keep him for a while, he showed some positive strides and has some leadership qualities.rnrnProspectsrnrnNO ONE SHOULD EVER EVER EVER BE LEARNING TO PLAY NHL HOCKEY AT THE NHL LEVEL, IF THEY CANNOT PLAY AT THE NHL LEVEL LEAVE THEM IN THE MARLIES OR JUNIOR!!!!!!!!!!! This is the Detroit model everyone is craving.rnrnCheersrn
