On November 20, 2007 the popular McDonald’s NHL hockey cards became available through McDonald’s restaurants across Canada and will continue until the end of the year or while supplies last. The last three years the sets were put out by Upper Deck. This year’s set is a definite improvement and one of the nicest McDonald’s hockey card set put out so far by Upper Deck in recent years.



Upper Deck has put out most of the McDonald’s Canada hockey cards since they started back in 1991-1992, but for a few years Pacific Trading Cards put a few sets out. Since the 2004-05 NHL lockout only Upper Deck has been licensed by the NHL/NHLPA to produce hockey cards for this professional hockey league. All of the sets that have come out can be viewed at the McDonald’s Canada website at:

In a previous post I discussed Sidney Crosby’s absence from the McDonald’s hockey cards. The conclusion, while not set in stone, is that Crosby’s spokesperson contract with Tim Hortins may be in conflict with him appearing on a product for a different food chain. You can read the full article at:
