First, I apologize for the lateness of this short but important blog. Yesterday, I went straight from work to United Centre, and this is the first chance I've had to get in front of a computer.

Anyway...

If you're a season-ticket holder planning to stay at the Hilton for the convention this summer, you DO NOT have to wait until 9:00 this morning to reserve your room. Here's the story:

As we all know, the Hawks website is about as reliable as Rod Blagojevich. So I called the Hilton yesterday morning, with the simple intention of confirming the information on the Hawks site. And hey, guess what, the Hawks conveniently forgot to communicate to their season-ticket holders that they have had reservation priority this WHOLE TIME!!! When I told the extremely helpful Hilton representative that I was a season-ticket holder, she asked me for my season account number, then asked me how many nights I was staying, and before I knew it, my room was booked!

So if you're a season-ticket holder and you're planning on staying down the Hilton, again, the Hawks DID NOT COMMUNICATE that you have pre-reservation privileges, but you DO!!!

The Convention is absolutely awesome. The entire team and front office is there all weekend, there are autograph booths everywhere. An entire ballroom filled with any and all Hawk memorabilia imaginable. Players mingling with fans down the pub. Here's an example:Opening ceremonies. A packed ballroom, over 2,500 people. Overhead, on the balcony, the lights dim, Jim Cornelison comes out and sings the National Anthem. The room explodes. The front office is introduced. Then the players, one by one. Highlights are running on a giant screen the whole time. And, on top of everything else, it's the perfect time to re-unite with your season-ticket holder posse. It's a wonderful experience, and a great way to mark the halfway point of the off-season.
