The most fun game to be at all year. The crowd came to work right at the beginning of the game. We were blessed by the presence of the Irish Tenor singing God Bless America. We are 4-1 in the past 2 years when he is in the house. Unfortunately the Sabres did not come to work for the first 40 mins. We only had 7 shots through 2 period, but held on only down 2-1, thanks in large part to Ryan Miller. We came back 25 seconds in with a tip in by Drury, which i missed cuz i was pissing still.. Then when i was buying beers at the 10 minute mark TV scored on a sweet no look between the Rangers D legs by Staff to get the game winner.
If Ryan Miller were a horse he wouldnt even have to step out of the stable. The mares would come to him. He was an absolute STUD. He definitely stole the game. He probably deserves to be the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd star.
Speaking of horse, Zubruis was world class last nite. He put every Ranger on their ass, including big hits on Avery and submarining Jagr wiht a beautiful hip check. At one point Zoooooobie held the puck behind the Rangers net for 20 seconds getting the crowd to a standing ovation and chanting "Zoooobie, Zoooobie."
What an acquistion he has been to complement with Drury. Man I hope they do something to keep these guys together.
On a negative side, Afinogenov was brutal last nite and couldnt find his stick handling. Hence he found himself on the bench for the third.
Also, while walking out everyone was giving hi-fives and I gave some dude a hi-five and made such good contact that it broke his watch. And dan picked it up and wanted to take it home but the guy chased him down about 3 minutes later
Cant wait for game 3 at the MSG. Hopefully we can take one game at least on the road where we play better
