How Lowe can you go?

It is to bad K-Lowe waited so long to buck tradition. His offer sheet yesterday has been a long unwritten rule within the NHL. Within the rules set out by the league and the PA .... just a rule that has not so often been used. Names like Scott Stevens, Brendan Shannahan come to mind when I think of UFA's of the past moving clubs and draft picks going the other way.
The down side to the Vanek offer sheet for every GM and fan is the early inflation of yet another salary. The down side for Lowe .... well safe to say he has not made any friends, I wonder if he called BobBY Clarke yesterday and asked "did you hear"
Lowe and the Oil are at rock bottom, he really has nothing to loose at this point, no one wants to play in Edmonton. We could blame Pocklington for that, he showed everyone 20 years ago that even the Great one could be BOUGHT out of the great white north.
Was is a ploy, a manuevre in an effort to land the RFA he really wants? I strongly believe it was. Will it work in his favour? Only time will tell. Short term it might pay off, long term ... well fact is for Lowe there is no long term as GM of the Edmonton Oilers.
