If I were the Buffalo Sabres General Manager. I know that Ryan Miller, at 6.25 million this year, wants out and is frustrated with where the team is at. Knowing that I have a young goal tending duo in Jhonas Enroth and Matt Hackett with huge upside, I am calling every team in the top five particularly Colorado. I realize that Colorado will most likely never give up the first pick, but that would not deter me from making a pitch or two. Realizing that Patrick Roy is the new head coach and is going to want stability at goal tending. I would make every possible attempt to make Ryan Miller look like he could be the answer for the next 4 to 6 years. This might be a bit easier for them to wrap their head around because they have a good amount off talent on their team now and stability with a solid goaltender could give them what they need along with what get in free Agency. If the cap hit was an issue I would offer to take 1.5 to 2 million of that and pay it to offset the price on their side. They would get 4 to 6 years of goaltender we would get our star player as well. I would tell Jhonas that he has done enough through his play since the new coach came and given the chances to prove himself along with his stellar world championship performance, that I am giving him a raise and the number 1 spot. I give him a three year deal just north of 3 million a season and evaluate from there.
