Living in southern Ontario I'm a hockey fan in general and I noticed the lack of Coyotes coverage on here. So I thought I could add a bi-weekly update on some hockey happenings for the team. With the recent trade of Christian Dvorak to Montreal the Coyotes now only have 6 players (3 Forwards and 3 Defense) signed to the roster beyond the 2021-2022 season. Plus they only have 3 players signed beyond the 2022-2023 season (2 Forwards and 1 Defense). With this dynamic comes an intriguing set of possibilities. They are set to start next off season with $52,060,000!!! in Cap Space (before any transactions during the year) and $62,910,000!!! in space 2 summers from now. The Coyotes will now have a total of three first and five second-round picks in the 2022 NHL Draft. So that is 8 of the top 64 picks next year, (They better bring a lot of jerseys and hats to Montreal next summer if players can attend in person). This sets the stage for a Arizona to be major player in player transactions over the next 24 months if they choose to use this Cap Space as part of the trade market and players signing. Add to that the amount of draft picks they have and we could see fireworks in the desert. On top of everything else the Coyotes are now facing at the very least a move to a new arena (though I believe that the first intention is to stay in Arizona), making it an intriguing team to keep an eye on. Even the Arizona Wildcats Men's Hockey Team is getting ready for 2021-2022
