The Oilers lately have reminded me that I should not lose faith. The Oil are continually proving me wrong. Last night against the Flames, the Oilers put up a very impressive victory. They played a flames team that is virtually unstoppable on the road. Hemsky was outsanding, Score-coff continues to dominate, and a revived Dustin Penner is finally worth his weight. He has really started to not only throw his weight around but also play consistant hockey. Garon has continued solid play, but can he be our number 1 guy. Also does he want to re-sign? Do we want this to be like Ryan Smyth? No I'm not comparing Garon to Smyth, but the way this goalie has played we want him locked up. The question is do the Oilers need another scorer? Yes, yes, and yes. The Oilers are still in the hunt for that sniper to play with Hemmer. I don't beleive that Penner is that guy, I think he could play very well on a line with Stoll, and Cog's, or Gagner. I think the oilers need somebody though to fill the gap. Is the answer in the system? Is Rob Shremp the guy? No, I think they need to find somebody who is proven, and who can score big goals. I dont think taking a chance on somebody like a Glan Murry, who is reaching an older age is the wise thing to do. Brian Gionta, Marion Hossa, Jagr are just a few names who could be guys to fit that role. No it probably won't happen but those are high skilled guys to play with the franchise guy in Edmonton.

Ty Conklin? Oh right a starter for the Oilers that one year...what a player this guy has become. Who is next? Is Mike Morrison gonna make his comeback? Im not sure but this is a tremendous story. Kudos to Conklin, and tommorow I'll throw my kudos out to some other under-rated players. Until then, keep your heads up and have a good one.

I believe we signed Garon to a 2 year deal, so at the very least, we've got him for one more year before we need to re-negotiate.
