The Winnipeg Jets will play in their first postseason since relocating back to Winnipeg. The Jets will hope that their goaltending (Ondrej Pavelec or Michael Hutchinson) will hold in the series against the Ducks young goalies Frederik Anderson and John Gibson. The Ducks will go with Anderson in net and the Jets with Pavelec. The Ducks finished top in the west finishing only four points behind the Rangers for the Presidents’ trophy. The Jets will have to have a strong PK if they continue to take penalties like they did during the regular season finishing with the most penalties taken in the season. The Ducks will have a tough time going against the Jets defenseman, Dustin Byfuglien, Tyler Myers and Jake Trouba.

The Jets have one of the best chances for an upset in the first round of the playoffs but will need to play very well to be able to beat the Ducks. Game 1 will be a struggle for both teams for scoring and shooting due great defending and goaltending from each team. The Ducks will be able to edge the game in overtime. Game 2 will be a run away with Ducks offense being too much for the Jets defence and goaltender. The Jets will be able to rebound in games 3 and 4 with wins of their own thanks to great play from Myers and Byfuglien to send the series back to Anaheim tied at two apiece. Unfortunately the Ducks will quell any upset that is on the cards with great offensive play in game 5 and 6 from Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. They will each record 5 points in the final two games of the series to move the Ducks into the next round of the playoffs.
