Along with the excitement of Athanasiou coming back into the fold, Madison Bowey will also get the nod tonight (10/8). https://www.nhl.com/news/c-309880588

I have wondered why Bowey has been on the sidelines. To be frank, I like his skating and his game. He is exactly the kind of defenseman you want to see develop. Right shot, big body, can move the puck. Trevor Daly’s injury was the window he needed, and I personally hope he takes full advantage.

Daly is an excellent leader. I sincerely hope that when he does retire, he can be retained as a defensive coordinator. He’s played with some of the best players in the league and been part of some phenomenal contenders. It is hard to see good players come to the end of their careers. My hope is that Bowey has been leaning on Daly and Green to learn the game. Both guys bring something special to the table.

Tonight’s matchup against Anaheim means that one team will lose for the first time this season. I did NOT think that would be the case going into this one. I’m not sure how motivated you can be 2 games into the season, but it will be interesting to see who “wants it more” between two teams that most people thought could be written off quickly, myself included.
