Sidney Crosby on full display in the Conference Semifinals versus the New York Rangers.

For all the talent Crosby shows, I just can't respect him like I respected a Gretzky. He seems to whine after every whistle and his diving should qualify him for the Beijing Olympics.

The fans in Pittsburgh cheer Crosby and boo Jagr and I understand why. However, when it comes to integrity and sportsmanship has Jagr ever gone down when hooked or grabbed and has Crosby ever not gone down when touched?

no and no. And people outside pittsburgh won't really respect crosby until he cuts the sh*t and just plays. Any guy that would rather fall then try to make a play is pathetic. He's a good skater and he should be able to stay on his feet no problem. I've never seen anyone b*tch to the refs more than that kid. He's been called out by players, coaches and sportswriters and it still continues. And let's face it. Therrien wouldn't be so defensive if it weren't true.

When Gretzky was younger, he was a total whiner. On and on and on. Through time , experience, and probably a few kicks in the butt he matured and mostly stopped the whine. Perhaps Crosby will grow up too. Respect whomever you like, but your criteria here is false.

Good comedy. I can't figure out who is more dramatic - Crosby or Turco. Turco looks like he was shot with an elephant gun at even the slightest tap. I'd like to see these refs hammer down on that to put an end to it. Next thing you know, we end up with soccer. Pure play acting.

All players must do their best to stay on their feet. However just like in the world of soccer, the players are praised for "embellishing" or acting and drawing penalties. During a Pens/Flyers game this year the announcer actually said, "that is the 25th penalty that Sidney Crosby has drawn this year". The only way to stop the embellishing is to call only the ACTOR for diving and give the powerplay the other way.

Lol I was inches from using the Louganis reference myself. I actually think Therrien is worse these last few days. He looks like Russel Crowe after a boating accident.

"He is learning from the biggest cry baby and diver in the league. Mario "amen to that! you hit the nail on the head there. if there was ever a bigger cry baby in the NHL, it was Mario. never seen a guy his size whine about every single thing that happened to him during a game. Cinderella is following in his footsteps

Pens' fans will call us whiners, but it's not just Rangers' fans calling Crosby a diver. Notice how we do not say the same things about Hossa or Malkin.

you're right...they need to call it one way or the other...if it is a trip then it's not a dive...if it is a dive then it's not a trip...calling both doesn't punish either team but the only way to stop the diving IS to call it alone...excellent point.

I think Crosby is a great player, and I dont like to get into the who "whiner" and "diving" argument. But I'd say outside of Pittsburgh, real hockey fans...80% despise Crosby. So its not just Rangers, Flyers, Caps fans etc... that hate Crosby. I have family who are Avalanche and Wings fans and they dislike him more than me. I cant stand him...but that doesnt diminish his talent at all.I've said this before but I HATE Mike Richards..but I respect the hell out his game, and I love watching him (except against the Caps). Those are the players that should be the face of the NHL. Guys you just cant stand playing against, but love when they dont play against your team.I would say the majority of hockey fans LOVE Ovechkin, and for good reason. Im sure most people feel the same way I do about guys like Richards and Malkin. Just so I totallly dont rip solely on Crosby..I think Briere's the biggest tool in the league. I like the make-up of the Flyers team with guys like Knubs and Richards... but cant take Crosby or Briere.

All I read on this blog is a bunch of crying. Maybe if your team played hockey instead of "whinning" to the refs then they would probably get some results.

"Maybe if your team played hockey instead of "whinning" to the refs then they would probably get some results. "And maybe if you pens fans would have supported your team all these years my Flyer fan relatives would have their state tax money going to your new arena.

Why is it that all fans say Crosby is a baby and only Pens fans think he is not? And if everybody agrees on this point, how can the Pens fans say we are whining about it. Dont they realize that THEY are the biased ones?

It's 100% true about ALex the Great. Ovechkin has got to be the most popular player in the NHL. He's gritty,he's a sniper,he's a one man media highlight. He represents everything teams want their players to be. He took a marginal Caps team and pushed them to a 7 game series with the Flyers. Every goal he scores means something to him and the only thing I hate about # * is that hes not wearing it in the Big Apple. This may sting and I hope it doesn't bite me in the ass,but I actually think Sid may be a little over rated. If not for Gino the Pensmay not even be in the playoffs, and Crosbys return has taken a little away from Malkin. The amount of money invested in Sid would be better off spent in other areas. If a team was willing to take him in a deep draft this year for picks and established players I would consider moving him, t-shirt sales and media asskissing in all!
