Reminiscent of 04

This is my first blog, so bear with me. Tonight's game against Detroit was by far the most exciting game I have seen this year. There has only been a handful of times since that magical playoff run where the Flames have played with the intensity and toughness that was displayed back in 2004, and tonight was one of those nights. Almost everyone showed up tonight. McElhinney played the best game I have ever seen him play, he really looked like an NHL goalie tonight. Moss continued to have a career year with yet another goal, and Robyn Regehr had his best game of the year, solid throughout.

I have to talk about Bertuzzi though. I don't get why the player with the worst plus/minus on the team continues to get played during the penalty kill, towards the end of periods, in important defensive situations etc. He should not of been on the ice in the overtime period with the amount of mistakes he made throughout that game. That open net miss was unacceptable, a 12 year old could of made that shot. We have so many other players that are playing well right now, it just doesn't make sense to give the coldest player on our team all that ice time. Moss played 13:26. Bertuzzi played 18 minutes! But i digress.

All in all, this was a very good finish to the road trip, a very gritty effort after playing in montreal last night. The flames should come out of this game pleased with their effort, and hopefully come out against Florida with that same intensity seen tonight.

Good night flames fans
