So as per http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=279374

There is potential that Scott (and most likely rob along with him) will sign in one of Vancouver or Calgary in order to be close to his offseason home in Cranbrook.

Vancouver fans will take this to mean, the Niedermayers are going to be in GM place. Being a Flames fan I feel its more likely that they will be in the Saddle dome. Good news, I can back it up with some logic, its not completely hopeless optamisim.

1. Cranbrook is closer to Calgary then Vancouver, by quite abit actually.
2. Should Vancouver be unabel to resign the Sedin's you can pretty much rule them out as contenders for the season.
3. and most importantly, Scott and Iginla own the Kamloops Blazers together. Iginla lured Bertuzzi to Calgary, and I think he has more in common with Scott Niedermayer then he did Bert.

If you Believe in the past roumours, Scott was close to signing in Calgary in 05. Though the geography of Calgary and Cranbrook was cited then as well.

As for Rob, he played in Calgary for 3 years and has some experince in the city.

Of course like all Calgary fans the thought of Robyn and Scott as the # 1 pair is tantalizing.
There are two things that the signing would be subject too, scott taking a pay cut, and Calgary freeing up some space on the back end, such as tradeing Sarich or Vandemeer.

Sarich stepped up huge in the playoffs on one foot, and after a very impressive improvement should have increased his value to get a decent return.

So heres hoping that 27, and 44 don the Black C in September.

Clearly you haven't seen the Flames Cap situation. They don't have room even if the neidermeyers take a paycut. THe Neidermayer's were canucks fans growing up so I would think they would be more inclined to play with the canucks.

What I don't think people are realizing is that Scott is more than likely in a one and done situation. If Calgary COULD afford it, what are they going to do the following year when Scott in all likely-hood retires? Then you're stuck with Rob. I don't mean to rain on your parade slipfrawg (Calgary is my second favorite team ), but I just don't see this happening.

Scott actually had Calgary high on his list when he was a UFA but obviously wanted to play with his brother and it worked out! The reason was because Iginla called him and personally made a case to come here... maybe it's time... Sutter would have to move some serious salary and Rob is okay if you know his role is a grinder.

They'd have to want to play for cheap. [laughs] Otherwise, even if we move a bunch of salary, there's no chance it could happen.
