"Crosby deserves more respect."
United States, PA • United States •
I am sick of people talking about Crosby whining, and diving on this page.Just totally not giving him the respect he deserves. He plays harder than any player in the entire league, when you do that yeah you are going to get knocked down a bit more than the rest. The beating he recives every single game is something that HALL OF FAMERS are made of, its a shame of the jealousy of almost every other fan of every team has for him. I am a Penguins fan I grew up watching a whole lot of hockey, I have no other favorite teams but never have I constantly complained about any other elite player in the league. I always viewed hockey fans as a very informed and a very classy sports fan. It seems to me that the tide is starting to turn, and hockey fans are getting more and more like football and basketball fans everyday. I would take pride in how my favorite sport athletes carried themselves, how they treat the public and give off a PROFESSIONAL vibe. Now though it seems like more and more its getting worse, players holding out(SUNDIN) thinking that they can do what ever they want, how about just play. Players showing no respect on the ice(AVERY-Brodour) it just seems like that kind of stuff was saved for endzone dancing now its seaping into the best sport in the world, which there is no place in this game for that crap. Goride Howe would have 2 handed chopped Averys season to and end after that. Back to Crosbys lack of respect I have a whole lot of Penguin killers that i do not care for (Brodeur-Umberger-Koivu-Graves-Lindros-Brindamour-St.Louis-Murry-Gionta-Zednik-Marshall-Fitzgerald-Krupp-Volek) no matter how bad they killed my team never did i complain about them what happens on the ice, happens on the ice no matter what. There is no doubt that he is the OVER ALL BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE treat him like it. If you dont like what he says or does someone on your team should knock him out only problem is no one can. Like him or not he acts like a professional and if you dont like that about him then go watch the gold teeth and baggy shorts in basketball.

oh, and i think there is some doubt that he is the 'over all best player in the league'....he may not even be the best player on his own team.

You are an absolute joke. Respect is something that is earned, and neither Crosby, with his constant 10 year old antics, nor you, with your terribly written and poorly thought out articles, deserve much at all. This isn't to say that down the road Crosby will not be able to drop the diving and whining, and receive the kind of respect that such players as Lidstrom, Sakic, and many others get, not only in their own buildings, but across the league as well. The difference between Crosby and these type of players, is most certainly not skill level, but behavior. Just to clarify, that means both on, and off the ice.As to your comment that there is no doubt Sidney is the best overall player in the league... well it's right up there on the humor scale with your spelling of "Brodour." Also, how about the fact that the New York Post learned and reported that the NHL admitted officials had to speak with both the Penguins and Crosby himself to discuss his "embellishing." I can't guarantee it, but I would bet that puts him in the elite class of MAYBE 20 other players in the league, singled out for such behavior, most of whom would be among the most hated players across the league.Last but not least, if you'd like to really feel like a moron, here's what you can do. Set aside an afternoon (yes, a whole afternoon), go type "Crosby dive" into the search box on YouTube, sit back, relax and watch as Crosby gets leveled by the ghosts and ghouls haunting the ice. Maybe after that, you can get it through your thick skull that Crosby deserves much (I wouldn't say all) of the criticism he receives.

Crosby is a victim of his own actions, as a pens fan I am embarrassed at his antics sometimes, he needs to move out of the team owners house and be a grown man for Christs sake.... the bogus beard and pencil mustache during the playoffs was another sign he needs to grow a pair and also mature into a man

For the record, Sundin is not "holding out". His contract expired although when asked to waive his no trade last year he declined, costing his beloved Leafs a shot at getting some blue chip talent at the draft. All because Sundin "doesn't want to be a rent-a-player" and "wants to play the whole season with the team" GIMME A BREAK. Crosby is the best player in the game. I agree that fans and media and refs are outta line singling him out. AND "diving" is a reality in all team sports. Some do it better than others and never get caught. He's still learning. Go Crosby! Good 'ol feisty Canadian boy!

I think that the stereotype Crosby has been given is completely overblown and underserved. I'll be the first to say that he had a ton of growing up to do after his rookie year because he completely yapped, complained and dove more than he should have. I'm sure Mario and everyone else told him that he had to cool it. Nowadays, Crosby doesn't dive or complain any more than anyone else in the league yet he still receives the same criticism from his rookie days. I don't know if it's jealousy or what but it is undeserved. It has gotten to the point where if anytime he gets knocked down on a check or loses his balance, he's diving. It's just not right. And so what if he occasionally yaps at the ref on his way to the penalty box..who doesn't do that? All of this is not nearly as excessive as how people are making it out to be.

I do feel Crosby is the best in the league, I think he is slowly but surely maturing in a lot of the areas that needed it, we all know what they are. In time, Sid will EARN his respect, as Jason said, but this is not a good way to get your message across, you don't come on here bitching and complaining and expect people to listen to you or reason with what you are saying....just take a step back and use actual facts and proof to justify how he is improving with his attitude, then use that as a basis for your claim for him to be more respected, don't just write in caps that he is the best in the league and everyone should kiss his ass...that won't fly around here

While the author of this post is an idiot and quite obviously hasn't passed 3rd grade English, he makes a valid point. You pepole are living in a twilight of his rookie season where he yapped his mouth off. You can't have watched the Stanley Cup playoffs this year and still hold that opinion of him. He is matured beyond his years, and carries himself professionally - more so than most any other player in the league. The NHL is blessed to have him as thier ambassador. And the guy above gets home him because he cannot yet grow a beard? Thats laughable, and a terrible arguement at that. On top of all this, Crosby is humble, which is a rare attribute in a player these days. Ovechkin, imo, is the player with growing up to do; the tinted mask, the gold laces, the celebrating every goal like he just won the Cup, give me a break. AO loves the attention while Crosby quietly plays hockey. Anyways, all the Crosby hate screams jealousy like no other and I totally love it from all the haters. So keep it coming...

I'm not jealous and I don't hate the guy, but why didn't he show for the finals against Detroit. As with many talented players, he lacks the toughness, tenacity and perseverance of the truly great players such as Bobby Orr, Gordy Howe or, more recently, Mario L.

Uh, maybe have your English teacher proofread your blog next time? Your attitude about it is worse than Sid's. The dude whines. Planet Earth has very little patience for millionaires whining. Crosby is not unquestionably the best player even on his team, so the league is a big stretch. Settle down, Beavis.
