DETROIT/CHICAGO:

i was glad to see coach q actually use his two star players in game 2. kane was limited to just over 15 minutes of ice time in game 1 with no shots. i like seeing both him and toews being used in nearly every aspect of the game...even strength, power-play and penalty kill. given the chance and another season or two, they can be great two way players.

scary moments for burish in game 1. for those of you who listened to why it wasn't a more severe incident, you were probably as suprised as i was. eager rarely skates with sharpened skates, and they treat and coat the skates to prevent those sort of things from happening. nice!

detroit is still a power-house...if they do win the cup again this year then the conn needs to go to osgood. last year to zetterberg, i thought, was a bad call. yeah he was good, but osgood had to step up and win it for the team. same, so far, it looks for this season. but could detroit fall if their begin guns don't show up? last series against anaheim numbers 13, 81, and 96 seemed to be m.i.a. for most of that. hossa did make an appearance every once in a while. datsyuk did backcheck, sure....holmstrom....mostly non-existant. so far in this series, much the same. they need to actually join in this rush sometime soon, or just pack it up and go home. let the others win the cup.

PITTSBURGH/CAROLINA:

poor carolina. no cole or ruutu for game 2? not good. how effective will that make eric staal on offense? hmmm, guess we will soon find out. they need to get something figured out. i have not hurt what kind of injuries they sustained, but if its more than a game, then that tilts the ice drastically in the favor of ths pens. cam ward is still a great goalie. definately proving that he can perform regular season and post. i really like carolina's defense here. pitkanen and corvo are having great careers there. corvo especially. he needs to be a staple of what carolina's denfense should look to being in the next year or so.

pittsburgh is rocking and rolling. after a great series with washington, they look to be almost on easy street here. i was always curious to see how this team would do after losing several key players over the past few seasons and all the drama involving the coaching situation, but it seems to have turned out for the better. they are much more experienced now. they know what they have and how to use it. and most importantly, they know what they could potentially be facing.

my prediction.....detroit/pittsburgh clash again for the cup
