It is amazing to think that only a few months ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded their 'star' defenceman to Boston for Joe Colborne(1st round pick), a first round pick, and a conditional pick - when now, Tomas Kaberle is luck to even see ice time in their latest playoff game against the Habs.

The two times I highlighted were his ice time, and his even strength ice time.
He ranks 5th of 6 defenceman in overall ice time, only a head of Adam McQuaid, and ranks dead last in even strength ice time among defencemen, and gets the 4th least even strength ice - just ahead of Boston's 4th liners Shawn Thornton, Gregory Campbell, and Daniel Paille. Clearly those people who stated that Kaberles +/- wasn't a true reflection of his play are very much so wrong.
It is very bizarre that no other sports writer has picked up on this, but that being said, I message Howard Berger a few years back about writing an article about Garnett Exelby and how he doesn't belong in the NHL, only to get a respond from Mr. Berger - "I think you're obscessing too much on one mediocre player, but that's your right."
Well Mr. Berger - where is Garnet Exelby now?
Luke Schenn is the next one that will end up in the same scenario.
Brian Burkes next trade with Boston was the contraversial Phil Kessel for 2 first round picks, and a 2nd round pick. Boy does that trade look great for Toronto now. Phil is an absolute with ticking the twine 30+ time, in 3 straight seasons, meanwhile, Bostons first round pick(Tyler Seguin) recorded 22 points, and is unable to find a spot in the Boston roster. The 2nd rounder - Jared Knight - is still up in the air, and with this years first rounder being in the mid teens, Brian Burke looks like an ABSOLUTE genius.
Keep up the good work Brian.
Burkie has cleaned out the Bruins with a couple dandy trades.Let's see what magic he can work on draft day - should be exciting!!If Kaberle plays 6th D-man minutes what does that say about the rest of the Leafs D.
