All season, bloggers like myself have been preaching about “big games”. Well, tomorrow’s game against the Jets is the epitome of a big game. Playoff spots are on the line for the manager, ticket revenues are on the line for owners and jobs are on the line for players. This is a key time of a year; this game is shaping up to be the biggest of the season for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before we get to the game preview, it should be noted that the Washington Capitals are taking on the surging Ottawa Senators tonight in what could be a pivotal game for the Eastern Conference playoff picture. Here are the standings prior to that game (courtesy of NHL.com)....

This could be our reality next season, which I would be happy with. Our coward lines are. first line: Malone-4.5 Stamkos-7.5 Purcell-2.362. 2nd line: Ashton-1.64 Lecavalier-7.728 St. Louis-5.625. 3rd line: Tyrell-.6 Thompson-.9 Hall-.75. 4th line: Pyatt-.6 Smith-.6 Wyman-.6. Total is $32,825,000
And that's assuming no FA moves. I like what I'm seeing.
Defense could be this. 1st Brewer-3.85 Hedman -4. 2nd. Zanon (UFA at seasons end)-3.5 Gilroy-1.5. 3rd. Gervias-.6 Mikkelson-.6 and bring Barberio as the 7th dman. Now keep Garon 1.3, Tokarski at .75 and add our 1.167 in buyouts and presto we have a decent club at only $50,772,000. You know with the new CBA that the cap WILL be lowered.
I think Gilroy could actually be developed into a really nice player for the Bolts over a couple seasons. He shows signs of brilliance; nice to see you keep him on board.
I like him. He has potential. He, like everyone else has defensive brain farts, but has upside.
The main reason for Tokarski is he is a safe bet, not really sure what is being planned.
cory schneider, jonathan bernier or Ben Bishop is what Yzerman will set his sights on. Long term winning teams have good goaltending and all these guys are young. If we don't get one of these guys will get Josh Harding! Yzerman is in a semi rebuilding plan right now. So I doubt he uses all those draft picks that we have. Tokarski is not quite ready for the NHL just yet if they thought he was he would have been called up this season for sure.
Not nessesarily, Yzerman understand l's the importance of a good AHL system as well.
