It's that time of year, folks. We are under 24 hours away from the NHL trade deadline. With some big names on the market, and a couple big names now off the market, there will certainly be a flurry of activity as we move towards 3 p.m EST tomorrow. Over the course of the next day or so, I will be updating this blog regularly with Lightning moves, moves that interest the Lightning, and rumors.
Done Deal: St. Louis Blues send Ben Bishop to the Ottawa Senators for a 2nd round pick in 2013. This is a great pick up for the Senators. The reason I have this posted here is that the Bolts had been rumored to be in on the big tender. Now, with Bishop off the market, you can bet Steve Yzerman will be desperately working the phones.
Rumor: Hitting my desk this morning was word that the Lightning may be making a bigger play for Jonathan Bernier of the Los Angeles Kings. This would be a great fit for the Bolts, but I'm not sure we see anything happen before the deadline.
Done Deal: Detroit Red Wings send Mike Commodore to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a conditional 7th round draft pick. This is a great pick up for Steve Yzerman that basically came free. This could be another steal.
Done Deal: Darren Dreger is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs have sent Keith Aulie to the Lightning. Details to follow. UPDATE: Carter Ashton going to TOR.
Done Deal: Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun is reporting that the Lightning have dealt Matt Gilroy to the Senators in exchange for Brian Lee. Here's the first deal I'm not sure on....
Head over to TB HB to get the rest of the scoop as it unfolds.

I don't believe he is desperately working the phones, he has a plan and is sticking to it.
Everybody is desperately working the phones at this time of year.
Wait until the offseason and then get Corey Schneider at all costs
The Canucks are not going to get rid of Schneider and if they do it will be for way too much
Canucks will have to get rid of Schneider at some point. They can't keep him around forever. He has been so accepting of his role and the Canucks will run the risk of burning a bridge if they don't trade him so he gets his opportunity.
If the new CBA has a penalty free buyout then it will be Bobby Luo going.
Your blog doesn't like my iPhone. I can't post.
You guys are selling Tokarski short (no pun intended). I'll give you three good reasons why Tokarski could be our next goalie. 1) he has won at every level he has been at 2) he lead the AHL in wins and has a great record right now 3) he is already Lightning property and we don't have toortgage the future for him.
Let me see if I can do something to make it work on your phone!
This trade deadline is going to be allot like my wedding night for was for my wife. A huge lead-up to a MASSIVE disappointment!
HAHAHA
Yep i got a feeling we won't get a goalie till the draft!
Schneider won't be traded till the draft unless Tampa offers them both 1st round picks and Garon which won't happen.
Or period.
There is just nothing going on right now.....
I called Commodore a couple months back!
UFA July1?
What about Al Montoya? Better numbers on a worse team.
Keith Aulie from the Leafs to the Bolts
for Carter Ashton. wow
Carter Ashton was ranked our #1 prospect. Now we have Aulie. Thoughts on that one? Al Montoya is an interesting thought. What I'm liking so far is that both Aulie and Commodore can step right in here.
Aulie is good and knows the scouts and Boucher from the world juniors. He's a good fit for this defense which is not that good. TSN is saying Clark might be next
tough for Norfolk to lose this guy in their run
I love the deal personally. It's easier to develop forwards than it is to develop D-men. How many teams boast two massive D-men that can skate? The Bolts now do.
Well we get Keith Aulie for carter ashton good move because we don't give up anything draft picks! Can you say Goalie this summer!!!
Absolutely, Todd. The Aulie trade is definitely my favorite. This guy is going to be a real player one day soon. Goalie in the summer, for sure.
Bigger defense we are going in a new direction will see how it goes!
Alright things seem done now so I'll start on the blog. Should have it posted soon enough.
From Toronto: Aulie looked lost in his first callup, amazing in his second, and inconsistent in his third. He's a good kid though and I'm sorry to see him go. He's a future support guy in the top-4. Surprisingly mobile for a guy who is 6'6"
I was wondering if you guys had insight into Carter Ashton. I remember hearing that he has great physical gifts (size, skating) and a good head for the game, but is also very raw. How has he developed this year in Norfolk?
