“I gotta be honest with you. At this point, I don’t care. Move me … because it’s just tough going to the rink every day knowing that if something goes wrong, you’re going to be the guy moved.” - Bobby Ryan
Interesting enough, he's clearly on board with being dealt to another team. And why not the Ottawa Senators? A team that is one 4-time 30 goal scorer away from being a threat in the Eastern Conference.
There are many rumours about this whole situation, and many cries for this very skilled right winger. Ottawa has shown interest in him, and I just think he is a great fit for the team.
1.
Ottawa hasn't reached the minimum salary cap yet.
The Senators still have about $3,000,000 more to spend, even after signing Chris Neil for 3 more years. Ryan's $5,100,000 could slide in their perfectly. They'd have him on their hands until after the 2014-2015 season.
2.
Anaheim needs cap space to sign Getzlaf and Perry.
If Ottawa were to trade for Ryan, they'd probably be giving up some lethal prospects. They're not getting payed 5 million bucks like Bobby Ryan, so it can't really bite the organization too bad if they don't meet expectations.
3.
Ryan is a 1st line player, put him with Spezza and Alfredsson.
I'm pretty sure most Sens fans remember when it was Heatley teamed up with Alfredsson and Spezza, back when Ottawa was the power house of the NHL. That glory could be renewed, and it's only one trade away.
The deal rumours are getting warmer and warmer each day. As Murray expressed he's only half way done the negotiations he plans to make this off-season. The Flyers, Rangers, Hurricanes, and Sabres are also interested. But don't be surprised if Ottawa steps up and grabs him.
