Schneider Signs, Isbister, Ritchie Join Canucks

Cory Schneider has officially signed his first NHL contract with the Vancouver Canucks after spending the last two seasons with Boston College and breaking a record for most shutouts in a single season with eight. Schneider will most likely play as a starter for the Manitoba Moose and may very well see some ice time in Vancouver. However, it has been said this could be a move by management to involve Schneider, Vancouver's first round pick in 2004, in a packaged deal to land a scoring forward.
It looks like NHL.com was right after all, Brad Isbister has signed with the Canucks. Isbister joins the Canucks after playing splitting last season with the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. The 30 year old will bring his size and experience to Vancouver after having played for the Phoenix Coyotes, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Bruins and Rangers.
Byron Ritchie has also been signed by Vancouver, the 5'10, 190 pound center joins the Canucks after having played 64 games with the Calgary Flames last season with a total of 14 points. Ritchie, who turned 30 in April, adds the same kind of toughness and energy that Jeff Cowan brought to Vancouver earlier this year.
While these aren't major deals we can at least say that Dave Nonis is up to something. Brad Isbister and Byron Ritchie definitely add some toughness to a team that has missed it in the last few seasons. Also, the big question remains, will Cory Schneider stay in Vancouver? If not, where will he go and who will he go for? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Schneider has to play first, and then i think nonis is hoping his stock will rise... like the sabres said, they got several of their past good players through trades too so you have to work that avenue as well, if you cannot win the signing warz/auctions.... (or at least are unwilling to)...
