With the Predators choosing not to resign many of there "skilled" or "special teams" players, the Predators powerplay will have a different look this upcoming season. My question is, who will be the players to fill in on the PP? The most likely choice on defense is Hamhuis who has shown offensive ability in the past or maybe the rookie Koistinen. The foward position is a different story, however. Remember when the Preds had so many offensive players that Arnott and/or Sullivan saw PP time at the point? Those days are gone. Now with the Preds having only two true "scoring" lines, other players will have to fill in on the powerplay. There is no way that these two lines can be the the #1 and #2 powerplay units all the time, that would be simply too much playing time in a game. So the preds must use other player to. Will Radek Bonk be called upon to produce or will Vern Fiddler see time on the powerplay? The Predators have many questions to answer before next seaon. One thing is for sure, the Predators will have a completely different look on the powerplay next season.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe we'll finally shoot the puck instead of pass it on the PP.
The primary D men rotating on the PP will be Weber, Zidlicky and Suter and occasionally Hamhuis. They have to replace Hartnell screening in front with either of the large bodies of Bonk or Arnott. There can be no doubt that Radulov and Sullivan, Erat and Dumont and Legwand will be key also. So I guess I am disagreeing with you. The top 6 forwards must be our PP leaders.
