Canucks Re-Up On Defense

Vancouver Canucks general manager Dave Nonis just keeps making deals, he’s re-signed Kevin Bieksa to a three year deal and picked up veteran blue-liner Aaron Miller. It seems Nonis wants to build a stronger defensive presence around Roberto Luongo which is just what the team needs after seeing their all-star goalie get pushed around all season and especially in the playoffs.
Bieksa is a defensemen who can play well both offensively and defensively, he’s also one of the toughest players on the Canucks roster and provides protection for Luongo as well as other players on the team. He finished last season with an impressive 42 points, which topped all other Canuck defensemen, and averaged about 24 minutes per game, which was second only to Mattias Ohlund.
Miller arrives to Vancouver from the Los Angeles Kings as a solid defensive defensemen and will provide more toughness to this Canuck team. As an assistant captain with the Kings, Miller also brings experience and leadership and will be an important part of the team this season. The Buffalo native played in all 82 games last season as a King with 8 points and 60 penalty minutes.
Obviously, signing Bieksa was top priority and picking up the experienced Miller adds leadership and toughness in one package. Nonis is becoming more and more active as this free agent frenzy continues and talks of a deal between the Canucks and New Jersey Devils are heating up, I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned and see what happens next.

Canucks will be making a deal, but it won't be with NJ. Elias and Gionta aren't an option,Yashin is coming to the Canucks, In fact he is already in Vancouver with his agent talking the talk.
