FLYERS (26-23-6) at KINGS (30-20-6)

The Flyers continue their three-game California road trip looking to improve on the start, losing 5-3 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. The Flyers will look to improve their power play. They lead the NHL with most goals against with a man advantage with nine.

Despite outplaying the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday for the better part of the game, the shorthanded goal scored by Daniel Winnik was the key factor (and game winning goal) in the loss.

"I'm definitely pleased with the effort," coach Craig Berube said. "Guys competed hard. That's a very good team over there and we played with them. But it's not good enough. You can say what you want but we've got to win hockey games."

"There's always something that can be done," he told reporters. "The setup sometimes, if you don't execute, they are going to get odd-man rushes. We got to do a better job of executing."

Berube said whatever the reason, there needs to be better execution when the team has the advantage.

The Flyers look to take advantage of the Kings goal drought. In the last five games, the Kings have only scored three goals, all coming from their alternate captain, Anze Kopitar.

Jeff Carter will be playing against the Flyers for the first time since being traded to The Columbus Blue Jackets 3 years ago.

"Obviously you look at it when the schedule came out or whatever, but once you get out there it's just another game," Carter told the Courier-Post. "It's a big game for us. We've been throwing away some points so we need to get a win." "It was three years ago," Carter said. "I moved on pretty quick. It all worked out."

You can look for the Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek line to stay put, for now. Giroux is going into Saturday’s game with eight points in the last seven games, while Hartnell has 22 points in the last 22 games. The Flyers captain will looks to continue with his recent success and help spark the Flyers offense once again.

It should be noted that the Flyers are going into Saturday’s game fully healthy. Kings defenseman Alec Martinez will be out with an elbow injury.
