Truer words were never spoken than those uttered by our defamed, former General Manager last spring. Still it was a bitter pill to swallow for the beleaguered fans in our crusty post-industrial city, especially coming from the captain of the ship who, while not exactly crashing the franchise into the rocks, was clearly lost at sea. Yet, our die-hard faithful fans, not to be undone by four consecutive Super Bowl losses, let alone 17 years of general failure under Darcy's reign, not to mention "the goal which shall not be named",continued with blinking-eyed optimism while drinking the Pegula "Believe" KoolAid.
"Et tu, Pegula?"..............
I count myself among them. With my "Believe" KoolAid (*trademark pending) in one hand, Molson Canadian in the other, I have suffered through watching an embarrassing number of games this season, at least 60 of the most dismal one-sided tilts ever to flicker across the airways. You probably have too. We have suffered. I would rather have watched D2:The Mighty Ducks in consecutive sessions ala A Clockwork Orange, than relive another season as inglorious as this one. From the Phil Kessel vs. John "the Pinata" Scott in the preseason, to the summary firing of "collateral damage" Ron Rolston and the coup d'grace of Darcy Regier and through our returning Hero Patty Lafontaine and squire Teddy Nolan. Ups and Downs, thrills and chills, we've had it all this year except wins and, uhmm....goals. The pinnacle of suffering had to be losing the great Ryan Miller, a true professional. We saw that coming. It distracted us from....(wait for it....)
The Pegula Nut-Punch! (*or the Kimmy twister if you prefer)
Yuuup sucker! We apparently have a front office with more drama and intrigue than a Shakespeare in the park. Lafontaine is gone and he aint talking, Nolan is noncommittal about his contract and Pegula is up in an ivory tower and only talks through his functionaries. Great! Drink up that kool aid folks.

The silver lining to all of these dark clouds is of course, Tim Murray. If anyone can steer this ship out of the doldrums and not get caught up in all of the nonsense it is this guy. I don't think he's too fond of Kool-Aid.
Anyways folks, thats my first blog. Thanks for reading it. Gotta go, the Habs Vs. Sabres just started and Buffalo is wearing their fancy Yellow Practice jerseys!
