Hope everyone has had a wonderful, safe, and happy holidays. Taking time from unwrapping presents and being bombarded by questions from your relatives to check up on what the Flyers are up to. Heading into the holiday break the Flyers are on the heels of a 3 game winning streak that has seen them beginning to gain some momentum as we come close to the midpoint of the season. This is the second 3 game winning streak they have had this season and both have come at inconvenient times. The first winning streak came in the early part of the season where we saw the Flyers get to two games above .500 and had the looks of a team that was beginning to hit its stride. Unfortunately a 5 day break in the schedule ended up killing their efforts of that streak and sent them into a tailspin. From there they lost 12 of their next 14 games and are now just finally beginning to climb themselves out of that hole. We can only hope that the 3 day holiday break doesn't mess up the momentum and confidence the Flyers have been playing with as of late. The reason for their recent 6-1-3 record over the last ten games is because they are finally getting secondary scoring outside of a couple of the leagues top point producers in Giroux and Voracek. Voracek entered the break leading the league in points with 46. Jake the snake has truly been a great present to watch all season long. With recent contributions from Matt Read, who looks to be out of his early season slump (apparent foot injury) along with the revival of Vincent Lecavalier and a 4th line that has arguably been the 2nd best line for the team since Vinny has be reinserted back into the lineup. Now with no Zac Rinaldo (shoulder injury) the line of Vendevelde, Bellemare, and Lecavalier have been giving other teams fits. If the Flyers are to continue this recent stretch of success they are going to continue to need to get production from all four of their lines. Things seem to be settling into place among the forward corps, as long as the defense holds its own and they get a healthy Steve Mason (traveling with the team to Nashville for Saturday's game) back the Flyers look to be a team setting themselves up for a second half playoff run.
