Well, it appears pretty simple to me. However, I'm not the General Manager.
The Leafs lack depth at right wing. Plain and simple.
It's time to bring in a top line right winger to complete the trifecta. Blake, Sundin and .............
Hejduk (4m) and Svatos (1.2m) are obviously being targeted by the Leafs management. After hearing Giguere today, commenting on possibly picking up Peter Forsberg, he doesn't sound too interested in tinkering with his lineup. Especially his top 2 right wingers.
Maybe it's time to look into some other options.
Western Conference:
David Vyborny (2.2m) might be had for the right price?
Martin Lapointe (2.4m) The Leafs seem to like the reclamation projects. Chicago was said to have some interest in shopping Lapointe.
Eastern Conference:
Brian Gionta (4m) just a thought...they do have Zubrus who just signed and Langenbrunner (2.8m)
Miroslav Satan (4.255m)..........maybe trade Brya..STOP...don't even think about it.
Sami Kapanen (1.25m) Hartnell, Knuble, Lupul, Upshall.........lots of right wingers in Philly
To be honest, other than those names, it's slim pickings in either Conference. Most right wingers were just signed as a UFA, the rest are either too expensive or not a right winger.
Here's hoping in the next few weeks, we can add a top right winger, re-sign future Leaf captain Mike Peca (in my opinion) and make some moves to trim our roster before training camp begins September 13.
Interesting thoughts, but Kapanen isn't available. He might be our next captain.
Who do you think on the Leafs is trade-able for these wingers?I think our only untouchables should be Pogge, Sundin, Toskala, Blake, Steen, Kaberle, Gill, Wellwood, Ponikarovsky and Colaiacovo. Besides that we don't got much to offer.
I don't think Vyborny is availible either. It would take a major stud to pry the most underrated player in the league away from us.
future leaf captain peca? lol, no... not at all...McCabe for Satan? i wouldnt mind... McCabe 1st round 2008 for Satan 1st rounder 2008... sounds like a good trade to me
