First of all congratulations to Matthew Barnaby for his 14 years career in NHL. He will be remembered as one of great enforcers and fighters of this game. On Wednesday July 18, 2007, Barnaby told Buffalo television station WGRZ that he has retired from hockey. As a STARS fan, Barnaby was a great fighter for us and he won just about every fight last season, with exception of the fight he had on Jan. 9 in which he suffered a concussion and did not return.
Here are some stats for you.....Barnaby is 34 and he played 14 NHL seasons with seven teams: Sabres, Penguins, Lightning, Rangers, Avalanche, Blackhawks, STARS. He had 113 goals and 187 assists for a total of 300 points in 834 career NHL games. One thing to note is that he had 2562 Penalty Minutes in those 834 games. I'm sure that the STARS fans will miss Barnaby. It was great having him on our team during the 2006-07 season.
I will always remember him for crying after Aaron Asham beat the crap out of him. haha.
he was a treat to watch
I don't think that Barnaby retiring deserves that many exclamation points. Even one would be pushing it.
Thanks a lot for your comments "The Professor"...I'm sure that your picture deserves more exclamation marks as to what the hell is this picture.... "The Professor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"....Hope that makes you happy....
Could you rephrase that so that it, you know, makes sense?
Barnaby was a fun guy to watch fight. Him and Rob Ray together were fun. Does Barnaby live in Buffalo as his home now?
Maybe Ray and Barnaby can go on MSG together and we could have an old time fight during intermissions. Barely any fighting in the league now and I miss it.
He was a great agitator, but by no means should he be considered one of the all-time great enforcers.
