The New York Islanders announced Thursday morning that Adam Pelech has been recalled from BST. This will result in tomorrows contest with the Colorado Avalanche as he will most likely play for veteran Dennis Seidenberg, because the Isles have a history of not playing veterans back to back. Or, this can result for the Isles to carry a 7th Dman before they head West and god forbid a defense man gets hurt. The Isles head West for two games before returning to the Coast with games versus Florida (home and away) and Carolina. These are games the Isles should win.
Adam Pelech, 22, is NHL ready but there is no room for him yet in the big club. Ryan Pulock, the Isles best D prospect is day to day with an upper body injury. If Pulock was healthy, he may have been recalled for the Isles, as he has not yet have his rookie season. With the newest team coming into play next year, Vegas Golden Knights, you have to think either Thomas Hickey or Calvin deHaan will be selected. As a fan for a long time, I rather keep Hickey because of his offensive ability.
If Vegas does take a defense man from the Isles, Dennis Seidenberg, will most likely become a free agent and or retire, giving BOTH Pulock and Pelech an opportunity together, as they had played with each other in BPT for 2 seasons.
With our most hated rival, the Rangers defeating the struggling Flyers Wednesday, the Isles have 4 games in hand over the Flyers and sit 9 out. They have a lot of work to do come Friday in Colorado. Expect Greiss in Thursday and Berube on Friday.
Also, the CBJ do NOT want to lose, they are on a 16 game win streak, one shy of the NHL record held by the Penguins.
Alex Ovechkin (WSH) is 5 points shy of 1,000 career NHL points
