Part two of my NHL Mock Draft.
9. Minnesota Wild: Cole Perfetti
The Wild luck out with Perfetti dropping a few spots. Perfetti was second in OHL scoring with 111 points.
10. Winnipeg Jets: Anton Lundell
Winnipeg has issues on the backend with the loss of Byfuglien, Trouba and Myers but they go with Lundell. Lundell plays similarly to Mikko Koivu. A solid two-way center who produces a decent amount of points. Could be the long-term number two center solution in Winnipeg.
11. Nashville Predators: Seth Jarvis The predators have been a perennial playoff contender for years but appear to be losing some of that firepower. The Preds take the WHL’s second leading scorer Jarvis who can provide the top six with some skill in a few years.
12. Florida Panthers: Jack Quinn
The Panthers have selected some high scoring wingers in the past couple of years with Grigori Denisenko and Owen Tippett, Jack Quinn is no different. Quinn scored 52 goals this season with the Ottawa 67’s.
13. Carolina Hurricanes: Yaroslav Askarov The Hurricanes have been without a reliable starting goalie since Cam Ward retired. The Canes select the top rated goaltender in the draft hoping to solidify the position.
14. Edmonton Oilers: Kaiden Guhle The Oilers went defense in the first round last year with Philip Broberg and I see them continuing that trend this year with Guhle. Guhle brings a physical presence and a heavy shot to the Oilers d corps.
15.Toronto Maple Leafs: Hendrix Lapierre The Maple Leafs select Lapierre with the pick acquired for Kasperi Kapanen. Lapierre was seen as a top 10 pick in the draft before concussions plagued his season.
16. Montreal Canadiens: Dawson Mercer After a surprising run knocking off the Penguins and taking the Flyers to six games the Canadiens fall to number 16. The Canadiens pick Mercer. Mercer played with Drummondville of the QMJHL and registered 42 points in 26 games.
