Re-thinking Ryder

I know many Habs fans want to trade Ryder asap and I am not sure I'm unwilling to trade him for the right piece of the puzzle, but consider the following before we ship him off to become a star somewhere else.

MONTREAL - The natural goal scorer. Feared by goaltenders, revered by GMs across the NHL, Michael Ryder has earned his stripes as one of the game's top snipers, especially on the power play.
Since breaking into the NHL as a 23-year-old late-bloomer in 2003-04, Ryder has lit the lamp with such regularity that he would make a perfect spokesperson for All-Bran or Metamucil. Having sat out only two of a possible 248 games so far in his career, the now-27-year-old has quietly notched at least 25 goals in each of his first three NHL seasons. With only five other Habs having managed the rare feat, including Guy Lafleur, Mats Naslund and Jacques Lemaire, Ryder finds himself in some impressive company.
The Canadiens converted a whopping 22.8 per cent of their PP opportunities. With 18 of his 30 goals coming with the extra-man, Ryder ranked third in the NHL behind only Teemu Selanne (25) and Souray (19).
Ryder's prowess with the man advantage was no fluke either. One of just seven NHLers to have hit double digits in each of the past three seasons, only Ilya Kovalchuk, Selanne and Jonathan Cheechoo have done more damage on the power play than Ryder over that span.

Pretty impressive if you ask me. While he may be quiet, he's solid. He is a lock for 25+ every year and IMO, he's earned another year on this team.

Great... if other GM around the league want him.. let them have our one dimensional player who does not see his teamates on the ice... The value will be up.. Great.. we get a better player
He can be Soooo good sometimes...and yet, Soooo bad when his play is off (Minus-25)
I could think of at least one G.M. who take a run at him next year, his little brother is in the Calgary system. I like Ryder personally, he is what he is and his - is not really just about him, it's also abou the whole team concept and the d behind him.
Ryder's /- can't be taken out of context. Look at the WHOLE TEAMS /- from last season. While I agree he doens't play D as much as he could, he still deserves more respect than what Habs fans give him. He would be MUCH more appreciated on the Rangers, or Buffalo, or Philly, etc. Montreal media and pressure (due to our great history) is why he's being badmouthed.
I'd take him in Ottawa.
