For fans of the 1977 film Slap Shot, you will recall the Chief's last opponent, the Syracuse Bulldogs. The Bulldogs management filled the team with some of the most infamous goons in hockey history; sociopathic players who had been suspended from various professional leagues for injuring opposing players. With the Duck's signing of Todd Bertuzzi, I think Brian Burke is demonstrating that life can imitate art.
Brad May - Tim 'Dr. Hook' McCracken
Chris Pronger - Clarence "Screaming Buffalo' Swamptown
Todd Bertuzzi - Ogie Oglethorpe
Sean O'Donnell - Gilmore Tuttle. I know O'Donnell has been suspended for 3 instigator penalties but I don't think he's ever been suspended for injuring another player.
Moen gets in a few fights (the Shea Weber knockout is a classic) and Parros is a favorite of hockeyfights.com, but I don't think either of them have been suspended.
Not even close - you are reaching with this comparison. The last few NHLers that resembled anything from Slap Shot were Claude "wanna lose some teeth" Lemieux, Kenny "the rat" Linseman, Probert and Tie Domi in their prime nastyness, Ron Hextall, and I'll throw in Dave Semenko just because of the big bushy 70s era beard gave him a great look. Although the fairly recent Chris Simon, Jamie McLennan, and Marty McSorely hatchet jobs get them an honorable mention in my opinion.
I agree with DucksFan07, there is no comparison between the Anahiem Ducks and anything close to "Slapshot". The Ducks no doubt are a physically tough team, but not dirty. They can fight when challenged, but keep in mind that most physical players are on the roster as a deterrent more than anything.
Though you have to say... Bertuzzi would look pretty damn stylin' with a two foot tall afro.
I think you're right on! A trade for kasperitis is in the works!!hahah So if the ducks are the team loaded with goons who is killer dave??
