Random Avalanche question

I have always wondered about this, but have never asked. Why do the Avs have a foot on the shoulders of their jerseys? Don't think I'm some novice to hockey, I quess I just missed the memo on that one.
Up in the mountains there is a sasquatch or bigfoot (its alsothe team mascot). The foot is his footprint.
