Collectively, the West has a 57-31-7 against the East, yet 5 of the top 8 teams in the rankings are in the East...?
Only one team from the West that has played 4 or more games against the East has a losing record against the East: Chicago at 3-4-1. Two teams are 1-2 against the East: San Jose and Minnesota.
Only one team in the East has had real success against the West: Pittsburgh at 7-1, but seeing as they can't beat anyone in the Atlantic, chances are slim that they'll make it far enough in the playoffs to meet up with a West Conference team in the Spring.
The Strength of Schedule column shows just that...none of the East teams in the top 19 teams even break a rating of 90 (only 4 in the entire Conference do break 90). There is only a single West team with a rating less than 90: Detroit, mostly because it doesn't have to play itself...(30-3-2 against everyone NOT in the Central, but 7-7-2 against the Central).

Nice analysis and that is just more proof that the West will win the Cup again in 2008.
Power ratings are based on how a team played in the past week. As for the West winning a Cup, uh, 3 of the last 4 have resided in the East.
